Jimi, freezing his ass off, asked Noel's mother if he could stand next to her fireplace to warm himself. When Jimi went toward the fire, her Great Dane was in the way, and he improvised, "Aw, move over, Rover, and let Jimi take over." It's amazing where ideas of songs can originate from...Are You Experienced was on the UK Albums Chart for 33 weeks, peaking at #2. Another version of the album, with a different track listing and cover (also including "Fire"), was released in the US on August 23, 1967, spending 106 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, 27 of those being in the Top 40, peaking at #5.In 2005, Rolling Stone ranked Are You Experienced #15 in the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time," of which four of the songs were also included in the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time." That same year, the record was chosen by the Library of Congress in recognition of its cultural significance to be added to the National Recording Registry. Writer and archivist Rueben Jackson of the Smithsonian Institution wrote, "It's still a landmark recording because it is of the rock, R&B, blues ... musical tradition.
